    cat sits on my lap
    trying to write a haiku
    leaves with yarn instead

Thanks! Very fun and helped me work out my daily frustration during the time that is known around here as “The Kitty Hour” – the time from when they “think ” they should be fed until they actually “get” fed!

    opposable thumbs,
    wasted as the human knits
    sealed can, tummy growls

    Mayhem lurks, awaits
    unwary knitter with yarn
    dangling – now more ends.

    Chaos ignores yarn
    but cannot resist the lure
    of Addi cable.

    if he had thumbs, he
would greet me at the door with
    knitting needle spear

    Kitty sits content
    on my new handknit sweater
    blocking on the bed.

    The snow has fallen
But i smell spring in the air
    Not quickly enough!

or (you can see kind of a theme here!)

    Lambing time is now
    Born during late winter snows
    Next years sweaters grow.

    Wind blows through the trees
    Bitter cold on the outside
    Warm cat and yarn, bliss

    You loved that yarn. Cat
    chewed it into felt. Buddha

    Cold about my neck
    Colored softness taking shape
    Warmth envelops me.

And what I wrote before I read the “rules”…

    Twisted clouds of fur
    Magic flows through skilled fingers
    Fiber entwines life

What fun. I haven’t written Haiku since college…and that was a loooooooong time ago.

    I love yarn so soft
and smooshie, I go to yarn

    Oh, I love haiku!
    Am I overdoing it
    to write more than one?

    With five in the house
    Always a cat hair involved
    You want fries with that?

    Meow purr purr
Scratch dig knead rumble chomp chomp
    Purr meow meow

    Scent of pickled sheep
Steam rises from pot on stove
    Add dye, color blooms

    Superwash wool, silk
    Stripes on yarn and kitties
    My favorite things

    Vogon Jelz writes bad
    poetry. Maybe he should
    take up some knitting.

Sorry, I’m currently reading Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

    It must be tiring
    For cats to contemplate string
    Theory all day long.

Thought of this after physics class this morning.

    Kitty’s hairball looks better

    Kitty claws seek yarn.
    Scarf soaks in lavender bath.

I see I typed my e-mail address wrong so I have to write just one more haiku.

    must not write haikus

    or knitting says cat

proudly he brings me his prey
    yea, no skein is safe

    My soft black bunny
Too short to spin, but pure bliss
    Under fingertips

(not funny, but an ode to my Blackberry, who passed last summer)
