Pilgrimage to Mecca, Knitter style

What does any self respecting knitter do if in the Marshfield WI area? Make a pilgrimage to Mecca of course. Mecca being Schoolhouse Press out towards Pittsville. Recognize this place from IK Summer 2008? We did!

Knitting Hubby tried the “If they follow me home do I get to keep them” trick. Hazel bought another in the EZ series of books. And treated me to a pattern. 🙂

We were entertained for a long time with the walls of yarn and shelves of books. And all I had to do was give my last name and they already had all my billing information. Toooooo easy. (Or should that read “Too EZ”?)

To keep with the EZ theme we ate lunch at the Kitchen Table, the restaurant owned by EZ’s daughter Lloie. No evidence of knitting there, only great food and fantastic rhubarb pie. Oh and the two sets of origami dollar bill Hawaiian shirts and pants sets that Graham made ages ago that are still right next to the register. If you’ve seen those, you’ve seen our son’s handiwork!

After lunch we went out to Mielke Fiber Arts where we spent even more fiber related money. I bought soy silk, cabonized bamboo, corn ingeo, a lucet and well the list goes on. Linda did some pretty serious damage there too in the silks department. High on the selection of goodies, the siblings got pretty darn silly.

At what else does any self respecting Wisconsin tourist do in Wisconsin? Tour a cheese factory of course. Where we saw them making cheese.

And cheese.

And cheese.

And cheese.
