The local media just didn’t get it (or us)

More about the local Alpaca Farm day we (Famous Jessica, Blogless Kim and Wheeless Nancy-after we put in an emergency phone call to her about there being a Kiwi to demo). The local news media was there but when I watched the 6:00 pm report they hadn’t even filmed our corner.

Couldn’t believe how crowded the place was! We weren’t the only spinners there, some of the local Desert Fiber Arts folks were there too including my across the street neighbors Niel (plaid shirt guy) and Cheryle (she wandered away from her Joy at picture time). So they had us all pack in down wind from the cria. It was hard to keep our eyes on our spinning with all the little cria crying going on.

We got asked a ton and I mean a ton of questions about spinning from the general public and alpaca owners that were there. I’d carded up some Cisco alpaca and Sandy from Yakima River Alpacas used it as part of her display showing raw fleece and then processed yarn.

Wheeless Nancy had made some “lame excuse” (wink wink) for not wanting to join us, like had to wash her hair, or go jeans shopping or something. But we put in that emergencey phone call and she arrived right away. She spun for a while on the Kiwi and then because she was looking lovingly over at Jessica and my Lendrums, we got her set up on mine and away she went. OK now I think she wants a Lendrum!!

Today looks more like a typical grey day here in fall and winter. This was a view during my lunch walk.

And remember I finished the One Row Handspun Scarf? Here it is! (the sun popped out for 30 seconds)

The Alpaca Farm day looks like fun – it has been a long time since I’ve spun with a group, but I always thought it was the best way to spin! Your scarf is gorgeous!

I am totally behind on blogs but I did have to say your handspun scarf is just lovely. I am forever awed by handspun knitted items because they contain that extra dose of real creativity, taking something farther removed from an FO and making it one.

    Plus it’s so pretty!
