Could be why we never see Trick -or- Treaters

Rumor has it that the crazy woman that lives at the end of the lane was seen by the paperboy at 5:45 a.m. swinging a skein of yarn over her head and then thwacking it against the brick wall. Even scarier reported the paperboy, it was 30 degrees out and she had a bad case of bed head, was wearing a t-shirt, flannel jammie bottoms with bears on them and bright neon green WalMart faux Crocs.

Rufus saw me coming last night with the unwashed skein, looking for a yarn model. NO WAY Mom, the yarn doesn’t go with my eyes. Or the blankie.

When I was riding home from work last night at dusk, I could see emergency vehicles on the top of Collins Road (.75 miles from us as the crow flies) and smoke swirling on the west side of Flat Top. My first reaction was “I hope that’s not Leggett’s house”. When I got home I was going to mention it to Knitting Hubby and before I could, he said it had just been on the news. Beautiful house, we’d been at parties there. The fire started at about 4:50 in the afternoon in the attic and went so fast that the firemen decided to let it burn because the structure became so unstable so fast. The firemen were able save the pet birds, their computers and very few other things.

Knitting Hubby went through his surgery just fine yesterday. He was in and out of surgery in an hour. Felt good all last night. His get well surprise should arrive sometime today. I just checked FedEx and the package is out for delivery. Sure hope he’ll be home to sign for it!!

Thank heavens that the surgery went well. I’m glad that the birds were saved, but that would really be terrible to lose a home. The yarn is gorgeous (as always), even when showed up by a handsome kitty. We had only a handful of trick or treaters this year, but I did manage to insult the only neighbors in our cul-de-sac whom I hadn’t met yet. Doh!
