See, I’m not the only one

Here is a link to an article from an old Handwoven magazine (Interweave Press so it is a cousin magazine of Interweave Knits) It is all about deriving a palete from a painting. The article suggests buying a set of Color-aid papers (Color-aid Corporation,, but you just need a few handfulls of the paint sample cards from your favorite big box hardware and paint store. Just make sure to take some knitting with you while you grab the cards, the paint department staff will think you’re nuts and won’t question it.

    I’ve heard of quilting and knitting classes using this technique. People are always astounded at the number of hues they find in an image. (Usually famous painting).
